Washington State ranks top five nationally for the highest number of casinos; Nevada and California rank number one and two.  
There is much diversity in the type of casinos and the gambling available in the state.  The Indian or Tribal casinos offer several
forms of gambling but are the largest source of cashless slot machines.  Card Rooms have only been legal in Washington since
1974 and may not offer slot machines but they do have poker, Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Razz, Blackjack, Let It Ride, Pai Gow,
Spanish 21 and numerous other Table Games.   

Washington Casinos offer several forms of gambling that make the state very competitive in the United States gaming
environment.  In addition to the large Indian or tribal casinos, there are card rooms or mini-casinos, commercial gaming houses,
pull tabs, State lottery system, Bingo and horse racing.  Indian casinos have the largest facilities and widest variety of games but
they are outnumbered by the poker rooms, card rooms, and mini-casinos.  The competition is vigorous among Washington
State Casinos for customers gambling dollars.  

Seattle casinos have the most competition but there are home town casinos that are scattered throughout Washington State in
cities like Yakima, Seattle, Richland, Ellensburg and Wenatchee.  They present a wide variety of entertainment that does not
just include gambling.  Many offer bowling, karaoke, live music, hall rentals, Sports TV, bars, and restaurants.  Some good
examples of these casinos are the Wild Goose Casino in Ellensburg, Nob Hill Casino in Yakima, and the Clearwater Poker Room
in East Wenatchee.  

With the explosion in popularity of Texas Hold’em, the Card Rooms or mini-casinos have seen an increase in attendance for
weekly Limit and No-Limit Texas Hold’em Tournaments.  Many types of tournaments are offered such as Free Rolls, Bounty,
High-Roller, Deep Stack, High Point Invitationals and Satellites for World Series of Poker™ seats along with other premium
tournaments.  While the casinos don’t earn much from these tournaments, they are offered for customers because of the
demand and popularity.  There is also a hope that customers will play table games available in the casino and try their skills at
the live play Texas Hold’em tables.  

The Evergreen State serves up a multitude of gaming choices for its citizens and tourists traveling to the west coast.  It has
become a haven for gambling enthusiasts near and far.  There is much to enjoy in the beauty and diversity of Washington State
